Headlines like these and others have appeared in the local newspaper – The Sun News in the past couple of weeks.
The FACT is:
Myrtle Beach Bike Week ( or Harley Week as some call this ) is not the same event as Memorial Day Weekend ( Black Bike Week as many refer to it ) These are TWO TOTALLY SEPARATE EVENTS. The Myrtle Beach City Council, the political powers to be of Myrtle Beach, the Grand Strand Area, and The Sun News should talk about and discuss these events separately. We are seperate events. We are in the same Month (May). We are back to back and yes this does put a strain on all types City and County resourses.
Every time you turn on any news broadcast, NBC – ABC – CBS plus many others, or pick up a paper you can read articles on:
The Economy is Struggling.
High gas prices could top $5.00 a gallon in the coming months
Economists all have different opinions when things will turn around
Is the Myrtle Beach City Council so comfortable with the present economy they are wanting the surrounding cities and the County to joim in turning way thousands of loyal tourists, not only for Bike Week but also allow these same tourist to cancel other vacation times at Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand through out the year. Has the Myrtle Beach City Council forgot, they are a Tourist Destination?
